Role description
We are looking for volunteers to support people with dementia initially in Eden and South Lakes area of Cumbria. Side by Side service will offer people living with dementia support to keep doing the things they love and the opportunity to try new things, with the help of a volunteer. As a seven day a week service, it will offer a telephone support service where volunteers could simply chat with a person living with dementia.

The activities undertaken will be chosen by the service user, with the aim of encouraging and promoting social integration and inclusion.

You will be helping to support people living with dementia in their own homes, in their community and supporting the Alzheimer's Society in its campaign to raise awareness of the issues surrounding and affecting those living with dementia, as well as, hopefully, challenging the stigma that many people feel and reducing social and rural isolation in a positive way.

Application process
For continuity for the person with dementia, you need to be able to commit to a minimum of two hours per week for six months, after the relevant checks, and training, have taken place.
