Help is at hand for flooded properties - 19/05/2016
BERG (The Business Emergency Resilience Group) has set up three advice centres in Cumbria to help residents and businesses flooded during the 2015 December storms to access grants to protect their properties from future flooding.

BERG is an initiative of His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales, which helps businesses and communities prepare for, respond to and recover from emergencies such as flooding. The advice centres help local residents and businesses to apply for the £5,000 Property Level Resilience grants being administered by South Lakeland District Council (SLDC).

Advisers are on hand to guide people through the applications process, help complete the application forms and they can, if the applicant chooses, also help to arrange surveys and quotes for installation work.

The locations include:
3 Blackhall Road, Kendal
1st Floor Barclays Bank, Market Square, Keswick
City Council Building, Civic Centre, Carlisle

Opening times – Monday to Friday from 9am until 5pm.

A telephone hotline has also been set up to offer advice and guidance with the grant applications: 01539 769057

South Lakeland District Council can also provide help and advice on how to apply for the grants. More information can be found on the council’s website at http://www.southlakeland.gov.uk/flooding-help-and-advice/grants/property-flood-resilience-grant/
